Rose Croix is Coming to the Valley of The Merrimack
The Valley of The Merrimack is expanding !
The Valley leadership is delighted to announce that the Supreme Council has granted us a dispensation to form a chapter of Rose Croix. The chapter, to be known as Philosophic Chapter, will be the third Scottish Rite body in the Valley following Merrimack Valley Lodge of Perfection (founded in 1892) and Zion Council Princes of Jerusalem (founded in 1928).
Philosophic Chapter will confer the Seventeenth Degree – Knight of the East and West – and the Eighteenth Degree -- Knight of the Rose Croix of H. R. D. M., on candidates who have received the Perfection and Princes degrees. Candidates will then be ready to receive the Thirty-Second Degree in Massachusetts Consistory.
The formation of Philosophic Chapter is the most important development in the Valley since its inauguration in 2003 as the merger of the Valleys of Haverhill and Lawrence.
All current members of the Valley of the Merrimack will automatically become Charter Members of Philosophic Chapter. A dollar-saving dues arrangement will apply for those who would like to maintain membership in their old Rose Croix chapter as well as belong to Philosophic Chapter
The two degrees that are conferred in chapters of Rose Croix are highly interesting and, as our name alludes, philosophic in nature. Both relate to the study of man’s accomplishments, good and bad, and the discovery of a new law for the government of human character. As a member of The Valley of the Merrimack, you will be able to witness and participate in the presentation of these inspiring degrees within the comfortable surroundings of our own Freemasons Hall.
We are now planning our chartering ceremony -- a gala event to celebrate this important milestone in the history of our Valley. Please stay tuned for more information.
